Sangrur, June 26
Newly-elected Sangrur MP and SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has vowed to raise the issues of his constituency and Punjab in Parliament and ensure welfare of residents.
Mandate against main parties
Sangrur residents have rejected all main parties. Politics will change and like in the past, I will keep striving hard for the welfare of residents. Simranjit Singh Mann, SAD (A) President
“Sangrur residents have voted for me and rejected all main parties. Politics will change and like in the past, I will keep striving hard for the welfare of residents. I will raise the issues of Punjab and Sangrur in Parliament,” said Mann after collecting the certificate of victory from Returning Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal at the Dhuri counting centre in Sangrur district.
Reacting to the neck-and-neck contest against AAP nominee Gurmail Singh, Mann said: “I have dismantled the AAP fortress because voters were fed up with the policies of state government.”
“The credit goes to slain singer Sidhu Moosewala and others who have laid down their lives for Sikh Panth,” he said, adding the ban on Moosewala’s new song was not right.
He alleged the BJP had been attempting to divide the country on caste lines. “But residents are well aware of the divisive politics of the BJP. This has reflected in the results, as people have elected me as their representative in Parliament,” said Mann. Asked about the issues he was looking to raise in Parliament, Mann said he would take up all matters concerning residents.
