New Delhi, February 21

The global Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has put Pakistan on notice till June-end, asking it to improve its compliance otherwise all its members will be asked to “give special attention to business ties and transactions with Pakistan”. The country stays on the ‘grey list’.

In a statement at the end of its plenary today in Paris, FATF conceded that Pakistan’s political commitment had led to progress in a number of areas, such as pursuing domestic and international cooperation to identify cash couriers. But it also pointed out deadlines had expired on at least eight action points and five FATF benchmarks had been partly implemented.

Pakistan has addressed 14 of the 27 action items. “FATF again expresses concern, given Pakistan’s failure to complete its action plan in line with the agreed timelines,” it said.
