London, October 7

Recovery after a previous Covid infection followed by double vaccination increases an individual's protection against the disease to as much as 94 per cent, a new real-world UK study revealed on Thursday.

The ZOE Covid Study, a not-for-profit app-based initiative that has been studying real-world data in the UK on Covid-19 since last year, found two doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine — administered in India as Covishield — provided 71 per cent protection against infection up to six months after vaccination.

The protection was increased to as much as 90 per cent among those who previously tested positive for Covid-19. — PTI
