Woman dies, kin hurt in accident

Hoshiarpur, January 20

In a road accident near Dhatt village here this evening, a woman was killed and four members of her family sustained severe injuries.

Sources said the victims, all residents of Kalwan village in Ropar, were returning home after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. There were five members of a family in the car. When the car reached near Dhatt village, the driver allegedly lost control over it and rammed it into a tree along the road.

All five occupants of the car sustained critical injuries. They were identified as Simanjit Singh, his wife Karamjit Kaur, brother Jaspreet Singh, mother Harjit Kaur and sister-in-law Randeep Kaur (wife of Jaspreet Singh). They were admitted to a hospital in Tanda. While Randeep Kaur died during the treatment, the condition of other victims is said to be stable.
