UT police recover mobile phones of victim, suspect

Cops also get gloves used in crime, keys of room

The UT police have recovered the mobile phones of the victim and the suspect, who murdered his female friend at a hotel in the Industrial Area, Phase II, here. The police have also recovered the gloves that were used by the suspect, Maninder Singh, to commit the crime.

Sarabjit, a resident of Kakra village in Sangrur district, had checked into Hotel Sky with Maninder Singh on December 30. She was later found murdered in room number 301 on the afternoon of January 1. The suspect had left the hotel a few hours later after checking in. While leaving, he had taken the victim’s mobile phone and the keys of the room along.

The police said the missing mobile phones of the victim and the suspect had been recovered. While leaving the hotel, the suspect had locked the room and took the keys along, which had also been recovered.

“The gloves that were used to commit the crime have also been recovered on the suspect’s disclosure,” said a police official.

After absconding for around two weeks, the suspect had walked into a new channel’s office on January 14 and confessed on camera that he had murdered his friend since she was cheating on him.

During his run, Maninder stayed in various parts of Punjab, including Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sangrur.

The case
