Two nabbed with 2 kg of ganja

Ludhiana: The Jamalpur police on Sunday claimed to have nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 2 kg of ganja from them. The suspects are Johny Kumar of Mundian Kalan and Deepak Kumar of Haibowal. The investigating officer, ASI Surjan Singh, said acting on a tip-off, a naka was laid on 33 feet road the suspects, who were on a motorcycle, were nabbed with the drug. They were on their way to supply the contraband to their clients. TNS

Man held for illegal mining

Ludhiana: The Salem Tabri police have nabbed a man on the charge of illegal mining. The suspect has been identified as Sandal Ram of Talwandi Kalan. The investigating officer, ASI Kulwinder Singh, said they got a tip-off that the suspects had illegally mined sand from the Sutlej and he was on the way to deliver it to his clients. He was nabbed at Talwandi Kalan with a tractor-trailer laden with illegally mined sand. A case under the Mining Act has been registered. TNS

Man booked for kidnapping minor

Ludhiana: The Division 6 police have booked a man on the charge of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl. The suspect has been identified as Sunil of Hargobind Nagar. The complainant, Preet Kaur, a resident of the same area, told the police that on January 13, her daughter went missing from home and later she came to know that the suspect had kidnapped her on the pretext of marrying her. Trader held with illicit liquor

Sahnewal: The Koom Kalan police recovered 14 bottles of illicit liquor from a resident of Lakhowal village on Sunday. The police arrested Inderjit Kumar with 14 bottles of illicit liquor. He sold the liquor at his grocery shop. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him at. OC

Woman arrested with liquor

Machhiwara: The police claimed to have arrested a woman and recovered four cartons of liquor from her shop at Iraq village. The woman is a native of UP and at present resides in the village. A police party had got a tip-off about illegal sale of liquor by the woman. Machhiwara SHO Sukhbir Singh said a case under the Excise Act had been registered against the woman. OC
