Two held with banned drugs

Mandi Ahmedgarh: The police have arrested two persons and recovered banned products from them in separated cases. The police nabbed a drug peddler involved in supplying drug and narcotics among labourers and youth of the area. Nearly 1,400 tablets of habit forming drug were recovered from the accused, identified as Bahadur Khan of Kanganwal village. Preliminary investigations revealed that some agents of drug suppliers of famous Pindi Street of Ludhiana used to supply the required consignments after coordinating over mobile phone. The city police also arrested one person for allegedly supplying drug and narcotics among children and youth. Nearly 10 gm of a sniffing drug ‘sulfa’ was recovered from the possession of one Gurdeep Singh of Hargobindpura. OC

1 dead, another injured in mishap

Muktsar: A man lost his life while another received injuries, after a truck collided with two motorcycles near Gidderbaha town on Bathinda Road on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Rajinder Kumar (37) of Gidderbaha and the injured was Sahil (28) of Gidderbaha. After hitting motorcycles, the truck collided with some roadside trees as well. The police have arrested truck driver Gurjant Singh of Bathinda. TNS

Thieves target two trucks

Muktsar: On the intervening night of January 16-17, thieves ran away with a truck from Indira Nagar here. The truck owner, Rahul Bajaj, lodged a complaint with the Muktsar (City) police station in this regard. Similarly, Jagsir Singh of Udekaran village near here told the Muktsar (Sadar) police that his truck was stolen by some unidentified persons. The police have registered two separate cases in this regard. TNS
