Chandigarh, January 20

The trial has started in a local court in a case wherein a man, who underwent sex-change surgery in 2016, had filed a complaint against a Panipat resident for allegedly administering female hormones and asking him to undergo sex-change surgery on the promise of marriage.

He transformed into a woman after the surgery. In a complaint filed at the public window, she, a resident of Zirakpur, stated that she met Sunil Kumar (32) via social media and they became friends. Once he took her for a drive and gave her something to eat, following which she started feeling dizzy and uncomfortable. She alleged that after a few days, she noticed some physical changes in her body and later got to know that Sunil had allegedly injected female hormones in her.

She said when her condition deteriorated, she approached doctors at the PGIMER, who suggested sex-change surgery. She said she then discussed it with Sunil, who asked her to undergo the surgery and promised to marry her.

She complained that after the surgery, Sunil left her and when she enquired, she came to know that he was already married and had a seven-year-old son. She said he even threatened her to keep quiet and that things would be in place soon.

On her complaint, a case under Sections 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc, with intent to commit an offence), 377 (Unnatural offences), and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) was registered against Sunil at the Sector 34 police station on September 26, 2017, and he was arrested on December 18, 2018.
