Test forfeited or delayed? ECB seeks clarity

Show comments

New Delhi, September 12

What happened to the Manchester Test between India and England? What is the status of the series, 2-1 for India, a 2-2 draw, or is the result in abeyance until a final verdict is made about the Manchester Test?

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is likely to refer the matter to the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) for deciding the fate of the match.

The series-deciding Manchester Test was called off after a Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. This forced senior Indian players to express their apprehensions to both the BCCI and ECB on going ahead with the match.

While sources in the ICC said that they aren’t aware of ECB having already written to the ICC on the matter, a cricket website has reported that the host cricket board has already done so since they are staring at a loss of £40 million, most of which won’t be covered if Covid is the reason. — Agencies, TNS
