Jammu, June 2

Budding sportspersons from Jammu and Kashmir will get a golden opportunity to enhance their game skills through an online coaching programme.

Khelo India E Pathshala is being organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in association with the national sports federations across the country for grassroots level athletes.

It covers 15 Olympics disciplines — archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, football, gymnastics, judo, canoeing, rowing, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

Varinder Kumar Sharma, head of SAI sports centres in J&K, told The Tribune that apart from the athletes training at the SAI centres, those undergoing training at J&K sports council’s training centres can also attend this online programme. J&K’s Kuldeep Handoo, coach of national wushu team, is the programme director of the E training classes.

In Jammu, there are SAI training centres for badminton, handball, basketball, table tennis and wushu, while in Kashmir Valley, there are training centres for canoeing.
