The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has decided to call a national camp for the training core group from next month. The decision to this effect was taken during the NRAI general body meeting that was held through video conferencing on Tuesday.
Thirty-four shooters named in the list of Training Core Group for the Tokyo Olympics will be called for the camp to be held at the Karni Singh Shooting Ranges.
However the decision on when the camp should start and how many days the camp will be held has been left to the coaching staff.
Attendance has been made compulsory for both shooters and senior group coaches.
The campers will be housed at Manav Rachna University campus.
The shooters will be asked to get themselves tested before joining the camp.
“It was decided to regulate training timings and as a precaution the campers will be regularly tested. Even the cooks and drivers who will cater to them will be tested,” said a source.
“Attendance has been made compulsory,” the source added.
Shooters will have to maintain a minimum of two-lane gap and all the ranges will be sanitised regularly.
Ronak Pandit, high performance advisor with the rifle & pistol team, has been tasked to see that everyone adheres to the social distancing norms during the camp.
The NRAI had published a list of 34 shooters – four each in 50m rifle 3P men & women, 10m rifle men & women, 10m pistol men & women, 25m pistol women, skeet men and two in 25m rapid fire discipline.
