Arundhati, Chanu lead India’s charge

New Delhi: Khelo India Games gold-medallist Arundhati Choudhary (69kg) and Babyrojisana Chanu (51kg) advanced to the quarterfinals of boxing’s Youth World Championships in Kielce (Poland), while three other Indian pugilists notched up first-round wins. The other winners were Akash Gorkha (60kg) and Sumit (69kg) among the men and Rohtak’s Gitika (48kg) in the women’s category. However, Vikas (men’s 52kg) and Arshi Khanam (women’s 54kg) bowed out in the second round.

Goalie Aditi signs up with Iceland club

New Delhi: Indian women’s team goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan has signed for Icelandic third division club Hamar Hveragerdi. The 28-year-old becomes the second Indian women’s footballer after Bala Devi to earn a professional contract with an overseas club.
