SMVDU hosts tech fest

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, hosted its annual tech fest Titiksha-2019-20, which not only conducted various technical and cultural sessions but also engaged students in skill-based activities during events. The international conference titled "Recent trends & advancements in technology" was also featured in the annual tech fest. During the valedictory session, Dr Rakesh Jha, president, board of professional activities (BPA), congratulated the organising team for the successful completion of Titiksha.

IIM-Jammu holds training programme

A professional development training (PDT) programme organised bythe Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, began on Monday. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) ,and Prof BS Sahay, Director, IIM, Jammu. The PDT aims to offer a pragmatic approach to the issues surrounding strategic planning in higher education, including an open recognition of some of the idiosyncrasies of higher education. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sahay emphasised on achieving excellence in teaching and research, which should be executed appropriately with the help of structured planning.

The department of botany of Government PG College, Rajouri, organised people biodiversity register (PBR) preparation meet in collaboration with the J&K Forest on Monday. OP Sharma Vidyarthi, Director, State Forest Research Institute, Jammu, and the Secretary, PBR, was the chief guest who detailed the audience about the importance and preparation of this document. Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal of the college, emphasised on the need of biodiversity conservation.

Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School on Monday organised a Hindi calligraphy competition on its premises. Students of Class III and IV participated in the competition. JU organises national seminar

The centre for study of social exclusion and inclusive policy (CSSEIP), University of Jammu (JU) organised a national seminar on the topic "Social exclusion and challenges of inclusion in india: need for paradigm shift". In the inaugural session, the edited volume "Social exclusion and marginal communities" and the book "Distinctive voices of distress and narratives of sufferings" were released.Prof Naresh Padha, Dean, Research Studies, JU, was the chief guest. He called upon the intellectuals to focus on the research on issues having bearing on our understanding and policy formulations. .

Talk show for orphan kids

A talk show was organised on Monday for orphanage children on Monday. As many as 160 inmates from Balgram and Ved Mandir attended the show, wherein Ajay Saalan from the Social Welfare Department was the chief guest ,while Shashank Rawal from Red Cross was the guest of honour. The motive of organising the event was to motivate the students to talk on different topics.
