After a controversy over the positioning of whiteboards in smart classrooms of many government schools, the School Education Department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure that these whiteboards to be used as a projection screen for projectors are installed on the front side of the classroom.

The company, which is installing these projectors in many government schools, faced problems when school authorities insisted on installing these whiteboards for projectors on the rear side wall of the students.

With the whiteboard on the front side, it is only the teacher who has to turn around to look at the screen. But with the positioning of the whiteboard on the rear side of students, they would have to turn around time and again to look at the two boards.

Considering that the installation of these whiteboards on the rear side wall will cause a lot of inconvenience to students as they have to turn around time and again to look at the projector screen on their rear side and pay attention to the teacher on their front side, the company had raised the matter with the School Education Department.

Now after the company raised the issue, the Director, School Education Department, on Friday asked all DEOs in the state to ensure that the whiteboards were installed on the wall facing the students. Other than using it as a screen for projectors, the whiteboards installed on the front side can be used for the purpose of writing by teachers with the help of a marker.

As students are in the habit of looking on the front side wall of their classroom where the blackboards are usually installed on the rear side of teachers, so installing the whiteboards on the rear side wall will cause a lot of inconvenience to students.

To ensure that there is full compliance of the directions of installing the whiteboards on the front side, the Education Department has sent photos of some properly installed boards.
