Scrap dealer robbed at gunpoint in city

Three motorcycle-borne snatchers took away a cash bag from Shailesh Tiwari, a resident of Juhi Enclave, Haibowal, at pistol point in Industrial Area on the night of Thursday. The victim told the police that as he was about to leave for home after closing his shop around 10.45 pm, three youths on a motorcycle accosted him and tried to snatch his bag containing his tiffin box and cash.

He said when he offered resistance, one of the snatchers hit him with a sickle while another brandished a pistol.

The Division No. 2 police have registered a case under sections 379-B, 34 IPC and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act and launched investigation.

A factory worker, Anil Kumar, a resident of Jamalpur, was also robbed by three youths on Metro Road here on the evening of Saturday. The complainant told the police that as he was waiting for an auto-rickshaw at the gate no. 4 of Kangaro Factory after duty. Three youths riding a motorcycle arrived there and tried to snatch his mobile phone and purse. When he offered resistance, the youths roughed him up. He saved his life by raising the alarm and running towards the nearby shop.

In the meanwhile, the assailants escaped. The Moti Nagar police have registered a case under sections 379-B/511 and 34 of the IPC.
