World Book Day celebrations in schools

St. Soldier International Convent School, Mohali

In order to provide a propitious environment where the young talents would think out of the box and have a great learning experience, a Virtual Book Day Celebration was held at St. Soldier International Convent School, Mohali wherein students participated in numerous engrossing activities like Book mark making, slogan writing, and cloze making.

The participants expressed their ideas through illustrations. Apart from activities various educational Power point presentations and videos were also presented .It was a great experience for all.

Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh

Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School celebrated World Book Day enthusiastically. A variety of online activities were planned for all classes to encourage reading habits among students instead of resorting to online media for every solution. Students of Class VI exhibited their creativity by making some beautiful bookmarks with inspirational reading quotes. Children of Class VII related a story read by them recently thereby honing their communication skills.

An open debate on the topic 'Paper Book v/s E-Book' was held among Class VIII students. Importance of books was discussed in Class IX, while Class X students designed innovative Book Covers.

All Class Teachers administered a Reader's Oath and delivered lecture on DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) in their respective classes. Students promised to read extra books after the oath. Overall, it was an engrossing as well as a learning experience for the children.

Manav Rachna International School, Mohali

Since 'World Book Day' once again fell under the virtual education phase, students of MRIS Mohali carried out various unique activities suggested by their Librarian, Ms. Monika Mukh.

Children of Early Years, with the support of their parents, read their favourite books, narrated stories and enjoyed capturing these moments through pictures with their favourite books under 'Selfie with your favourite Book' activity. The kindergarteners created bookmarks and Grade I enthusiasts played 'Pictionary' during their online sessions! Students of Primary Years showcased their love for books through reading & making book reviews and bookmarks. They sketched their favourite characters/cartoons and weaved their own stories.
