Hisar, May 12
The Om Prakash Jindal Modern School (OPJMS) in Hisar is being converted into a 500-bed Covid hospital to scale up medical facilities for Covid patients in Hisar. The work is going on at war footing for construction of the temporary Covid Centre and Hospital which will get uninterrupted oxygen supply from adjoining Jindal Steel unit.
The deputy commissioner Priyanka Soni informed that hospital is likely to resume operations on May 16, though the state government has fixed the deadline for May 18. All the beds in the hospital will have oxygen support.
“Around 80% work has been completed on the site which will have four blocks for admission of patients besides the OPD facility, pharmacy unit and store etc. The senior wing and junior wings of the schools have been converted in separate blocks while two additional hangers have been constructed in the school campus”, informed the deputy commissioner.
The surging number of positive cases and mounting deaths have been a cause of concern for the health authorities in Hisar as the district has recorded highest number of 647 deaths in the state till today leaving even Gurugram and Faridabad behind which has registered 612 and 598 deaths, respectively till May 11.
