VES students win medals at Asian Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship in Kazakhstan

Mumbai: Vivekanand Education Society’s Swami Vivekanand Junior College students have brought nationwide laurels to the institution by bagging gold and bronze medals at the 12th Asian Acrobatic Gymnastic Championship being held at Kazakhstan. Team India has won two golds, two silvers and four bronze medals, of which VES students have won two.

Amongst the winners are: Akshata Dhokale and Prashant Gore. Akshata Dhokale, a student of Class XII (Science) won a gold medal with a routine that scored highest for difficulty and execution. At the same time, there was also an impressive medal-winning performance by Prashant Gore, a student of Class XII (Science) who took bronze in his world cup debut.

As many as 650 athletes from 32 nations took part in the Gymnastics championship in Kazakhstan.

At the match, gymnasts carry out within the following age classes – 11-12 years outdated, 13-14 years outdated, 15-16 years outdated, and 17 years-21 years outdated. Each Age Group World Competition programme contains qualifying rounds and ultimate performances.

Speaking on the occasion Radha Narayan, Principal, said, “VES is proud to have international medallists like Akshata and Prashant on its team. May this be the start of a fantastic international sporting career. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. This is a significant achievement for VES.”
