Students go creative

Manav Rachna International School, Mohali

To curate the inner child in everyone, students of Class II shared interesting stories with their peers during their online sessions. Their connotations, pitch and props used kept everyone hooked. Stories, either fiction or non-fiction have a universal appeal, irrespective of age and other diverse forms of entertainment. Children always learn a thing or two about morality while adults revisit their faculty of interpretation.

AKSIPS-125 Smart School, Kharar

The school organised virtual dance competition for the pre-Primary wing 'Dazzling Stars'. The participants were asked to introduce their dance forms through the video. It was a freestyle competition and participants sent in their individual dance videos to the teachers' in-charge. The participants dressed in colourful costumes, twirled around with their thrilling performances. Looking at the enthusiasm of the little ones Principal Jagjit Sekhon said dance competition at school is not only about trophies. It is a great way to build emotional resilience in children by giving them a goal to work for and while they strive towards achieving it, there is an increase in their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Oakridge International School, Mohali

Students made equipment prototypes for astronauts in ISS. The blueprints of these modes are sent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Students have designed sports equipment for space, model of Plank Mat, which has hand gloves, allow astronauts to stay attached to the mat. Another student created a model of handball that help fast passing in space with its magnetic effect. Principal Ramanjit Ghuman said the school is a part of Nord Anglia Education and began its remarkable journey into exploring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) education through the collaboration with the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an organisation that has carved a niche for itself in this fast-growing field. She said this collaboration offers students an opportunity to engage in designing space food, recreational activities and sporting and exercise equipment for astronauts in the International Space Station. As part of this activity, they posed several questions to aid their designing, which were answered by the NASA scientist Dr Ariel Eckblaw, founder and Director of the MIT Space Exploration Initiative. Aditya of Class IV and Ashwika of Class VIII are among 14 students whose questions were answered by Dr Ariel Ekblaw. Students are given an opportunity to learn microgravity and develop innovative models, in general, the space lifestyle experience of the astronauts.

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh

A creative clay craft activity was organised for students of the pre-Primary wing. The children actively participated in clay modelling giving shape to their imagination and creativity by pounding squeezing, rolling and blending the clay to make unique and amazing creations like animal faces, insects, fruit baskets and many more. The activity helped children discover how to make basic forms, develop hand-brain coordination, agility and fine motor skills. The little ones experienced a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction by presenting their creations at the end of the online class.
