Students celebrate Gurpurab, enjoy fun activities at school

Gurukul, Kurukshetra

A ten-day National Defence Academy (NDA) guidance programme in collaboration with IFDO Hyderabad started on the campus. School Director Col Arun Datta, in his opening address, complimented NDA wing students for making a career in Defence forces as their first choice and reiterated his firm commitment to provide best training facilities and guidance to students as they pursue their dream of joining defence forces as officers. Col BG Ray and Col KM Naidu of the Institute of Defence Orientation (IFDO), Hyderabad, are conducting the NDA guidance programme for 60 students enabling them to improve their communication skills and interview techniques apart from enhancing their physical fitness and problem-solving abilities so as to do well in their SSB interview.

Gurukul Global School, Chandigarh

The school held the draw of lots for Class Nursery for the session 2021-22. Parents were present at the venue to witness the draw. Kids were invited on the stage to take out the slips and the entire process was video graphed to ensure transparency.  There are total 54 seats for Nursery, out of which 13 seats (25%) are reserved for the economically weaker section and 11 seats are reserved for staff and siblings. The draw was taken out for 40 seats out of which 10 seats are kept in waiting. The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the school notice board and school website. 

Sacred Heart Sr Sec School, Chandigarh

The Heartians who had enrolled for the Bharat Scouts and Guides were felicitated at Sacred Heart auditorium today. The chief guests of the occasion, Rev. Sr. Arti, the Principal and Sr. Lucy, the Manager, lighted the customary lamp. An inspiring PPT, capturing the journey of the Bharat Scouts and Guides charmed the audience. Speech, poem recitation and musical rendition by the guides enthralled the audience. Rev Sr Arti and Sr. Lucy honoured the Guide Captain, Ritika Azad and 32 guides with certificates and scarves.  Rev Sr Arti congratulated the guides and encouraged them to embrace the state of readiness in mind and body to render the social and national duty.

Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh 

Students recited poems, showed powerpoint presentations and delivered speeches on birthday of Guru Gobind Singh. Teachers enlightened students about the sacrifices made by them for humanity.  The students whole heartedly participated in the activities and paid homage to Guru Gobind Singh and his family.

Sri Aurobindo International School, Patiala

A road-safety month was held in cooperation with the school management and Principal Neerja Sethi. Sr Traffic Police Inspector Pushpa Devi informed children about road safety rules and explained the importance of road safety signs. The objective of the practice was to reduce the number of road crash fatalities in the city.

 DC Montessori (Sr Sec Smart) School, Mani Majra

The school celebrated Lohri with exuberance and frolic. The session highlighted the essence and importance of Lohri in Punjab, Bihu in Assam, Uttaryan in Gujarat and reflected 'Unity in Diversity'. This was followed by the spiritual importance of Makar Sankranti. Students presented foot-tapping dance and informative speeches. The online session was filled with high spirits and warmth spreading the wishes of happiness and prosperity for one and all.

AKSIPS-125 Smart School, Kharar

The school celebrated the 353rd Prakash Parv, the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, who devoted his life to serving the people and upholding the values of truth, justice and compassion, with religious fervour and gaiety. Students sang shabads and shared the life history of Guru Gobind Singh. They laid stress to follow the path shown by the Guru with honesty and sincerity.

NRI Public School, Dera Bassi

The school celebrated Gurpurab with fervour. The celebration commenced with a prayer. Students disseminated information about the life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh and were inspired to lead a life like him. ‘Sakhis’, poems and speeches were the special features of the celebration. Shabads and holy hymns were sung from the Guru Granth Sahib by teachers and students. Principal Kiran Singh wished a happy Gurpurab to all and said this day was observed in honour and remembrance of the great warrior, poet, philosopher and spiritual master. 

Solitaire International School,  Panchkula           

With an objective to apprise young learners with different numerical concepts, an experiential activity was conducted for kindergarteners. It proved to be a fruitful session as tiny tots acquired the concepts in a fun-filled way and it gave them a better understanding of number concepts. Students collected resources from their surroundings, counted them and arranged these objects next to the assigned numbers. Young Solitairians learnt to recognise the given numbers and attached them to their numerical values. Parents appreciated the effort of the teachers who, in spite of all odds, are providing hands on learning to the young students on the virtual platform.
