Schools to remain closed till July 31 in Punjab

The Punjab Government today extended the ban on opening of educational and coaching institutions, cinema halls, gymnasiums and mass gatherings till July 31.

Under the Unlock 2.0, the state government has banned any activity that can attract large gatherings even outside the containment zones. Restrictions on number of guests in marriages not exceeding 50 and number of persons attending funerals not exceeding 20 remains enforced.

In orders issued by the Home Department, places of worship will remain open from 5 am to 8 pm, restricting the number of persons to 20, while practising social distancing.

Restaurants have been allowed to operate till 9 pm with 50 per cent occupancy or 50 guests, whichever is less. Liquor can be served provided the restaurant has a valid permission from the Excise Department.
