Gurugram, September 16

After remaining closed for almost six months Gurugram schools are now limping back to normalcy. With MHA giving a go ahead for conditional resumption of services, a majority of private schools have started guidance and counselling classes for their students. Government schools are, however, finishing last moment admissions and will resume classes for grades IX to XII from September 21.

The state education department has barred the entry of any student from containment zone in schools and Covid testing of teachers.

"We have started with staggered classes with handful of students being called for guidance. We also plan to go for partially offline examination where a specific number of students from each class will come here for exams. All private schools have taken consent from parents and with their cooperation will resume schools in current times, “said Col. Pratap Singh of Independent School Association Gurugram.

Private schools have installed special sanitiser dispensers and taken steps to ensure social distancing. They have even started admission registration for 2021-22 session.

The government schools, meanwhile, have their staff reporting but students have not been called so far. They are taking new admissions and plan to resume from September 21. Abiding by Covid SOP's is challenge for many and they feel with current rising cases this should be deferred in Gurugram.

“We are overloaded with students and don't have enough resources to follow Covid protocols on a daily basis. For us getting students to wear masks will be challenge. Gurugram government schools need more time", said principal of a local government school in rural Gurugram.
