With India celebrating its 74th Independence week, here's a glimpse of how students & schools, leaving no stone unturned, participated in the virtual celebration.


MRA Modern Public School, Panchkula

Students put forward the best performances on the eve of 74th Independence Day. It was joyful and heartening to see children participating in the virtual celebration with zeal and zest. Although the schools are closed due to Covid-19, the management and staff members of school took the initiative to encourage the students to put forward the best performances while sitting at home. Students from different classes conveyed the important message of patriotism and national spirit through craft work, role plays, dance and rendering of songs. Principal Neetu Arora unfurled the National Flag with limited staff in school. School President Anil Mahajan virtually emphasised on the value of Independence and urged them to not get swayed by popular opinion or what they hear or see, but to rationalise and ponder before taking big decisions.


Gurukul Global School, Chd

Gurukul Global School is leaving no stone unturned to involve its students in different online activities. To mark the Literary week, several inter-class competitions were organised for the students of classes VI to VIII. The Globalites participated in the competitions like poetry recitation, extempore to name a few. The students participated in all the activities with lots of enthusiasm. The event was a great success.


DAV Public School, Chandigarh

Independence Day was celebrated in a different manner this year by making efficient use of e-media. Students expressed their love and feelings for the nation through performances which included patriotic poetry recitation by Arshiya Verma, Kriti and Pragati of Class X and patriotic songs by Jasleen of Class XII and Seema of Class IX. Different activities like 'Card Making' for Juniors, 'Tree plantation' for VI-VIII, 'Poster Making' for IX-X, 'Pattern Making by Diyas' for XI and XII etc were organise. A webinar was conducted by Class X students to highlight the inspiring stories unsung heroes of India's Independence.


AKSIPS 41 Smart School, Chd

Different online activities were conducted online to mark the Independence Day. Patriotic poetry recitation, speaking lines for freedom fighter, healthy tricolor snacks (cooking without fire), know your country quiz, declamation on self reliant India, colouring competition and dance competition were some of the events organised for students of different classes. Keeping in mind the social distancing restrictions only four staff members were called to the school campus to unfurl the National Flag.


Amity International School, Mohali

Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters, the school organised an event on the eve of India’s 74th Independence Day. The celebration, though virtual, was laced with intriguing hues of festivity. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Brigadier (Dr.) Vijay Sagar Dheman and Mr. Gauravh Gupta, Vice President, Amity Education Group. Students from various classes showcased a colourful spectacle of Independent India’s vision through their performances. They conveyed the important message of Patriotism and Nationalism through poetry recitals, slogans, and rendering of songs and dances. Urvashi Kakkar, Principal, of the school, appreciated the efforts of the young Amitians in putting up a wonderful and a memorable show.


Shishu Niketan Public School, MDC-5, Panchkula

The school celebrated Independence Day by conducting various activities online. Poetry recitation activity was for Nursery and KG, story telling for Class I, solo dance for classes II to V, poster making for students of Class VI to VIII and article writing & declamation for classes IX and X. The special attraction was the online debate on Constitution conducted by students of classes IX and X. Principal Ranjna Bakshi appreciated the efforts of students and the teachers.


The SKY World School, Panchkula

A host of activities were organised on virtual platforms for the students to mark the Independence Day. Some of these included poster making, speech, poems, dance etc.


Ryan International School , Ludhiana

Principal, a few staff members and NCC cadets took part in flag hoisting ceremon y at the school on Saturday. Ryanites of XI and XII participated in online history quiz. Students of Class IX took part in Hindi speech competition where as students of Classes VI to VIII made tricolor wall hangings, cards and tried recipes using hues of the Tricolor. Class I and II students participated in online poetry recitation competition. Montessori students enjoyed online show -and-tell games with their teachers and peers.


State Public School, Shahkot

To continue the tradition of celebrating Independence Day, School celebrated it with full enthusiasm and pride during this Pandemic too. Under the able guidance of President of Group of State Public Schools Dr. Narotam Singh and Vice - President Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, staff members took all the safety measures for the success of the celebration. The Principal Of school Mr. Kanwar Neel Kamal hoisted the national flag and all hearts throbbed in unison as the rhythmic hum of the national anthem accompanied the exhilaration of hoisting of Tricolour in the premises of school. The Principal wished, Happy Independence Day, to all the students, parents and other people who joined the celebration live. Students of school joined the celebration through Facebook live and Zoom. They were very excited and missing their contribution in the celebration.


Indian Public School, Ambala

Students saluted the supreme sacrifice of great martyrs for the sake of freedom. The students presented a mélange of patriotic activities and conveyed the message of patriotism and national spirit through poetry recitals, dance and rendering of songs. An atmosphere of national pride was clearly seen on the school's Facebook page. The Kindergarten students dedicated this Independence Day to the Frontliners by garbing themselves in the attires of doctors, nurses, journalists, teachers etc. as a mark of their immense support. It was heartening to see children apply themselves with as much zeal and zest to the Independence Day celebrations as in other festivities. Special webinars were conducted connecting students to the Nation. IPSites exhibited unflinching love and support for their country by making tricolor badges, fans, headgears etc. The students pledged to work towards a responsible tomorrow.


Stepping Stones Sr Sec School, Chd

To make up for the absence of children in the school this year, special efforts were made by the school to broadcast live the proceedings from 8.30 am onwards. The Principal, Anu Kumar took the salute and unfurled the tricolor. An ode to the nation was prepared by teachers and students through online collaboration, which was broadcast live to all students. The entire school participated in the celebration online, in sending their wishes for a better and a prosperous India.


Manav Rachna International School, Mohali

The entire MRIS Mohali fraternity saluted the Tricolour, on the beats of National Anthem, to commemorate the 74th Independence Day. The flag hoisting ceremony was telecast live from school, followed by a virtual tour to the Red Fort. Children paid homage to the freedom fighters. Senior wing students participated in a virtual assembly complete with patriotic speeches, songs and poems.


Vidya Valley School, Kharar

The patriotic zeal lifted up everyone’s spirits as teachers and management authorities of the school enthusiastically gathered to hoist the national flag which was virtually witnessed by the students via online app. The Principal, Dr. Suman Lata, in her address urged every student to work with honesty and dedication for the nation. The ceremony was followed by a medley of patriotic songs, poetry recitation, role play and dance performances by the students which they presented on online app. The event ended with the inspirational words of Chairman Jaspal Singh.


GMSSS- 26, Chandigarh

Principal Bhavandeep Kour hoisted the flag on the occasion of Independence Day on Saturday. The event was viewed by teachers and studedents of the school. The Principal exhorted the students to maintain social distancing strictly and do their studies whole heartily.


The British School,Chd

Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters on the Independence Day, the management,s taff and students of the school participated in a virtual assembly. Pre-primary wing students who dressed up as different freedom fighters sang patriotic songs and narrated slogans. Glimpses of technological advancement could be seen in performance of students of classes VI to XII. Videos on Digital Footprint, computer ethics were shown to the students. A foot tapping Bhangra performance made the day enjoyable.The programme ended with National Anthem, school song followed by vote of thanks.


AKSIPS-65, Mohali

The 74th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour. A special assembly was conducted to mark the occasion. Principal Rajminder Kaur Jaitla hoisted the Tricolour on the premises and urged the students to become responsible citizens. She also told them to follow all the precautionary measures and maintain hygiene to keep the society, the surroundings and themselves healthy and safe. Seerat of Class VII highlighted the significance of Independence Day. A plethora of activities like flag making, badge making, quiz, salad making, best out of waste', essay writing etc were organised . The selected students were awarded with e-certificates. Associate Director Parnika Kalra extended her best wishes and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students in various activities.


GMSSS, Sector 56, Chandigarh

The 74th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and gaiety on the school premises, maintaining the proper guidelines of COVID-19 precautionary measures. The Tricolour was unfurled by Dr Ramanjit Kaur, Principal, alongwith a few teachers and staff members of the school. A tree plantation drive was also organised in association with DIYA (Divine India Youth Association), Tricity, a youth wing of All World Gayatri Pariwar, Shantikunj, Haridwar, an NGO. As many as 25 saplings were planted on the school premises on the occasion.
