Festive fervor prevails as schools celebrate Dasehra

The school marked the festival of Dasehra by organising various online activities and competitions.

During this significant week, students learnt about Indian mythology and importance of Dasehra.

The students of Kindergarten block commemorated the killing of demon Ravana by lord Rama with some entertaining activities. They made fascinating hand-outs of Ravana with the help of their parents as demonstrated by their teachers in online class.

A number of finger puppets were also crafted with the faces of Rama, Lakshmana Sita, Hanumana and Ravana.

The teachers narrated the story of Dasehra with the help of finger puppets.

Primary I Block conducted an activity in which students made face mask of Ravana, recited poems and bhajans.

The teachers highlighted the importance of the festival and inspired students to follow the path of truth.

In Primary II block, a variety of craft activities were organised. The students made attractive masks, crown and finger puppets and dressed as Lord Rama, Sita, Laxman, Hanuman and Ravana and narrated and enacted the mythological scenes from Ramayana.

Special emphasis was laid on the symbolic burning of the effigy of Ravana, showing the triumph of good over evil.

The festive events presented by the Secondary Block students included short videos, PPTs, self-composed poems, newspaper magazines, narration of Ramayana characters and puppet characters in which they showcased their talent in a creative and innovative way.

Middle Block students did a Ramayana enactment in which Ravana took away Sita ji.The best entries of Secondary Block were 'DasehraTimes' (XF- Group Activity) and Craft activity (Geetanajli Thakur -XC), Puppet activity (Ishneet Kaur -IX F) and video show ( Aayush Ghai -IXC).

KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh

A webinar was organised by the school on the occasion of Dasehra.

The guest speakers Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dean Of the College, Head of Psychology Department from Post-Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh, Dr. Arpita Kapur, an Anaesthesiologist, ASMO, Civil Hospital, Panchkula, Mrs. Pratibha Singh, Sub Inspector, Cyber Crime Investigation Cell, Chandigarh and Mr. Rajendar Suhag, Senior Operator and Cyber Expert, Chandigarh Police addressed concerns and queries of parents and students.

Dr. Arpita Kapur spoke at length about the SOPs related to Reopening of the School Preparations to made by the School and the cautious approach to be adopted by the learners. Dr. Rajesh Kumar touched upon the psychological aspects of the present situation, and its impact on the students, their parents and teachers alike.

Ms. Partibha threw light on how to safely navigate the cyber world and mitigate the risks that wait online.

The webinar was moderated by Ms. Pooja Prakash, Principal.

Mount Litera Zee School, Panchkula

Mount Litera Zee School, Panchkula celebrated Dasehra online with great enthusiasm and joy to mark Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and to reinforce the message that good always triumphs over evil.

The little ones were dressed up in their best like Rama, Lakshman, Sita and Ravana. Various activities like fancy-dress competition, poetic Ramayana and a dance were organised. Students shared the significance of the festival and how it is celebrated in India in their Online classes.

The chairman of the school, Narender Singla appreciated the efforts of the students while inspiring them to follow the path of truth.

Gurukul Global School, Chandigarh

The students and faculty of the school celebrated Dasehra online. An Assembly was held for classes I - X where the students showcased a colourful cultural show with solo and group dances. They also prepared PPTs showing the modern Ravanas like corruption, child labour, women disrespect to name a few.

They also presented speeches to highlight that good always triumphs over bad. They also appreciated the efforts of the corona warriors. This Virtual assembly was attended by about 300 students and faculty on line.

Principal NeenaPanday appreciated the efforts put in by everyone and wished all a very happy and healthy Dasehra.

Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore

Dasehra was celebrated online with a lot of excitement at the school. A puppet show depicting the story of the Ramayana was shown in the special assembly online. Students keenly participated in various activities like mask making, mace making, making an effigy of Ravana, delivering messages from the Ramayana and much more. The message conveyed was that truth and goodness prevails over all evil.

Aanchal International School, Chandigarh

To mark the victory of good over evil, the school celebrated Vijay Dashmi virtually. Live streaming as' Coronasur dahan' was organised. This year the biggest evil we all are facing is the pandemic. Corona is the biggest demon, so corona effigy was burnt to signify the symbolic end of the disease.

Many parents saw it live on YouTube while being at home and appreciated the efforts of the school.

Delhi Public School, Yamuna Nagar

Keeping the festive spirit alive, Students of Class II and V of the school organised a virtual assembly on Dussehra. The assembly started on a spiritual note with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra followed by the news headlines and thought of the day.

The students acquainted all with various facts of Dashera. A graceful dance invoking the blessings of Goddess Durga, marked the culmination of the assembly.

The students also highlighted the importance of the festival in today's world. B. Murali, Principal, appreciated the efforts of the students and explained them the importance of the festival.

J.V.S Model Senior Secondary School, Mohali

The Council of mathematics of J.V.S Model Senior Secondary School organised maths fun filled activity on shapes related to Covid-19 and the Dasehra festival.

In this activity a beautiful message was given that as Dasehra is a festival of good over evil in the same way we wish Covid-19 should be over and life should be back on the track once again.

Hubble Adarsh Sr. Sec. School, Kalewal (Mohali)

Keeping in view the social distancing due to Covid-19 pandemic, the school celebrated Dasehra with due precautions. School Principal Pooja Saxena, shared the necessary precautionary measures needed to combat the pandemic by emphasising on the use of hand sanitisers, wearing masks and keeping six feet social distancing. Ravana was designed as corona which was sanitised rather than being burnt to spread the message of victory of good over evil.
