Dasehra celebrated with fervour, gaiety

NRI Public School, Dera Bassi

The school held week-long celebrations to celebrate Dasehra. Students learnt about Indian mythology and importance of the festival. Students dressed up as Lord Rama, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman. The students also made masks, crowns and made sketches of Ravana. Students also presented reenactment of scene from Ramayana through a puppet show. Principal Kiran Singh conveyed her best wishes to parents and students through a virtual message.

Vidya Valley School, New Sunny Enclave Kharar, Mohali

Keeping the festive spirit alive, Dasehra was celebrated with fervour. Due to the pandemic, it was not possible to celebrate the occasion traditionally so it was arranged virtually. Teachers were present physically. All safety measures like social distancing and wearing masks were taken care of during the celebrations. Students made drawings and art/craft activities related to this festival. Students spoke dialogues from Ramayana and recited rhymes during the online classes. The effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakarana were burnt. Keeping the safety of environment, no crackers were used while preparing effigies. Principal Dr Suman Lata informed students about the significance of this festival. Chairman Jaspal Singh and Deputy Director Simmerpreet Singh graced the occasion.

Solitaire International School, Panchkula

Pandemic crisis could not dampen the enthusiasm of students. The Solitairians participated in a series of online activities. It included rangoli making, dandiya dance and singing activities. The day was marked with the culmination of week-long Navratras celebrations. It added more spark to the happiness of students when their parents also joined in tapping their feet to famous tunes of garbha. The significance of Dasehra was highlighted. It ignited young minds and restricted the message that Dasehra epitomises victory of good over evil.

Delhi Public School, Khanna

A virtual assembly was conducted by students on the occasion of Vijaydashami. The assembly began with a powerful speech delivered by Gurtazpal Kaur of Class X highlighting the importance of the festival. This was followed by an impactful speech delivered by Maanya Sharma depicting the nine forms of Maa Durga, signifying the importance of each form. The teachings of corporate management learnt from Ramayana were indeed innovative. The highlight of the day was the role play on Ravan Dahan enacted by performers of classes V and VI. A stellar Bharatnatyam performance by Harnoor Kaur and Drishti Cheetu of classes VII and VIII left a deep impact on the audience. Chairman DS Bains highlighted the message that Dasha Hara is a Sanskrit word which means removal of 10 bad qualities within us. The celebrations came to an end by some words of wisdom by Principal Mukherjee and Headmistress Neha Rattan.

The Sky School, Panchkula

This time, the target to shoot was COVID-19, in the form of the effigy of Ravana which was placed in the empty ground of the school but the ceremony was attended virtually by all. There is no denying that evil prevails in this world but the light will always conquer the darkness. Hence the school wishes a very Happy Vijaya Dashami to one and all and propagates that the way Shri Rama killed the ten-headed demon Ravana, we all should eliminate the negative traits that seek refuge within us and make a better version of ourselves.

Gurukul Global School, Chandigarh

To observe October as the National Dental Hygiene month, especially during pandemic times when regular visits to the dentist is not possible, a webinar on dental hygiene was organised for classes VI to VIII by the District Chairman for Dental Health, Dr Sanjay Kalra. He explained the dental anatomy and the causes of dental diseases to students. He also imparted information on the various treatments that can be undertaken for oral hygiene. Different ways for taking care of teeth was an important highlight. Dr Sanjay also answered the queries of the inquisitive students.

St Joseph’s Sr Sec School,  Chandigarh 

The Primary-1 Block has taken an initiative to mark the importance of “UN Day” by disseminated information through a powerpoint presentation shared by teachers. Children of classes I and II were apprised by sharing videos on how the UN is fighting poverty, maternal health, primary education for all and above all works for peace. Principal Monica Chawla threw light on the massive and enormous amount of work done by the UN across the world. She told the importance of maintaining and promoting peace and the feeling of brotherhood among different nations
