2nd online assessment of secondary, senior secondary classes from December 1

The second-term online assessment of secondary and senior secondary classes would be held as scheduled from December 1 to 15. The syllabus of arts subjects has been completed while the syllabus of science stream would be covered before the scheduled commencement of the assessment.

The syllabus has been curtailed by 30 per cent and there would be more choices in the question papers, to be provided in all examination centres well in advance.

Following the Covid lockdown and closure of schools, the Education Department switched over to online teaching to make up for the loss of regular classes. Programmes like ‘Har Ghar Pathshala’ were successfully implemented.

Anima Sharma, coordinator, quality education (classes IX to XII), said to ensure that the entire syllabus was covered and learning levels improved, 40 videos and an equal number of worksheets were sent to the students every day and focus shifted to weak students after the first-term assessment.

Modules providing useful inputs regarding physical fitness, disaster management and stress management were prepared and provided to students, even though these were not part of the syllabus, which helped the students during the lockdown.

In the first-term assessment, about 29 per cent of classes IX and X students and 40 per cent of classes XI and XII students scored first division and girls performed better than boys. About 90 per cent students appeared online while question papers were delivered at home to 10 per cent students left.

The examination was held after successful conduct of online teaching by preparing WhatsApp groups of administrators, principals, teachers and class-wise students to disseminate the message regarding content uploaded on ‘Har Ghar Pathshala’ on daily basis.
