Saksham cycling day event

Indian Oil Corporation Limited on Sunday organised Saksham Cycling Day event in Jammu. Rajeshwar Singh and Rakesh Magotra led the participants to take a pledge on oil and gas conservation. The cycle rally was flagged off at 10 am. Rajiv Yadav, state-level coordinator, oil industry, J&K, also addressed participants. Other senior officials from the oil industry were also present on the occasion. The 4-km long rally started and ended at the divisional office of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Jammu.

GDC holds walkathon

The NSS units of Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua, organised a walkathon under the Fit India Movement campaign. In this event, the NSS units started the walkathon rally inside and outside the campus. Principal of the college, Prof Assa Ram Sharma flagged off the rally. In his address to volunteers, he appealed the students to keep themselves fit and healthy by doing exercise and walk for long distances daily. Later, a running competition among volunteers was also organised. The whole activity was organised under the the supervision of Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and Prof Neha Bandral, NSS programme officers.

Bharat Darshan tour

The 33 Battalion, CRPF, Bhaderwah, has flagged off the Bharat Darshan Tour of 16 students of Bhaderwah subdivision from Jammu to Kolkata (West Bengal). The CRPF officers stressed upon the importance of organising such programmes for the youth to know about the nation, its different culture and diversity. The notable feature of this tour was that the students belonged to far-flung,rural areas of the Bhaderwah subdivision and belonged to backward families. During the tour, the students will visit various historical and important places and will get first-hand experience about the vast cultural diversity of country.

Road Safety Week held

The 33 Battalion, CRPF, Bhaderwah, has flagged off the The GS Sports Club organised a Road Safety Week at RM Public School, Chowadi. Randheer Singh, SSP, Commandant, IRP 19 Battalion, was the chief guest on the occasion. The motive of the event was to make the society aware of the importance of being physically fit, following traffic rules and driving safely. Students who participated in the event were given certificates and medals. Randheer Singh in his address said the students played an important role in nation building and it was very crucial to educate them first regarding the road safety and traffic rules.

GDCs to host sports festival

Government Degree Colleges (GDCs), Kathua, and Hira Nagar will organise a sports festival from February 11 to 16. A meeting in this regard was held on the premises of GDC, Kathua, to finalise the modalities for the event. The meeting was chaired by Prof Assa Ram Sharma, wherein he issued guidelines to the sports board and physical directors of the college. The festival will be organised as part of a series of festivals to be conducted by the J&K Higher Education Department at different colleges of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
