This one is for all the country souls leading a city life. And all the more for those who at this time of the year have their thoughts, if not the schedules, give into wander lust. A recently single and recently jobless New York executive Dean Gabriela (played by Christina Milian) has a ‘Bridget Jones drunken moment’ and enters a contest called, ‘Win an Inn’ in New Zealand. For anyone well-acquainted with holiday slash romantic movies knows the plot from here on. Falling Inn Love is as predictable and as formulaic as it gets but the good part is it is unapologetic about it, so much so the cheesiness is happily forgiven. We give into the charms of the all things predictable; the quaint town of Beachwood Downs, the hot local guy Jake (Adam Demos), the fact that her luggage rolls down a hill and crashes into the truck of …who else? Jake. Who is, by the way, a volunteer firefighter, a passionate beekeeper, and the guy who can fix a leaking sink and a fallen roof with panache. Now how can she stick to her original plan of selling the inn and going back to the US? Remodeling of the inn and romance blossom almost at the same time. It is amidst the predictable plots that the treatment stands out and for that director Roger Kumble can take a bow.
