Facing humiliation at the hands of Punjab Health minister, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Raj Bahadur, was on Saturday in tears as Punjab Pradesh Congress chief Amarinder Raja Warring came out in support of the doctor following his resignation.

Raja Warring tried to console Dr Raj Bahadur, asking him not to get disheartened.

Raja said that he has been getting messages from people from across the state telling him how the doctor has saved people’s life and cured people.

Warring met Dr Raj Bahadur at the regional spinal centre in Mohali. Dr Raj Bahadur is one of country's top orthopaedic surgeons.

In the video, as Warring came to meet Dr Raj Bahadur, the doctor who was in his surgeon’s clothes, could not hold back his tears.

Meanwhile, Dr Raj Bahadur has sent his resignation to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Raj Bahadur resigned citing humiliation by Health Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra during an inspection to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot on Friday.

Amritsar GMC director-principal and medical superintendent also tendered their resignations after Dr Raj Bahadur's 'humiliation'

The newly-inducted asked Raj Bahadur to lie on a "dirty" patient's bed during the visit.

A video of the minister "forcibly asking the Vice-Chancellor to lie on the bed" has gone viral on the social media.

The minister can be heard speaking "rudely" with the Vice-Chancellor over the lack of cleanliness in the medical college, despite explanation by decorated Bahadur, who was on his third extension as the Vice-Chancellor, that they were trying to give proper facilities to patients with all available resources.

At this, the minister got him to lie on the patient bed in the dermatology department.

Infuriated by the misbehaviour meted out to Bahadur, OP Chaudhary, secretary to the vice-chancellor, also submitted his resignation.

The incident has triggered anger among the medical fraternity who were demanding an apology from the health minister for his 'unruly' behaviour.
