Under debt, Fazilka farmer ends life

A 60-year-old farmer, Ram Singh, of Kawanwali village here ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance on Wednesday.

The deceased’s son, Chand Singh, said his father owed over Rs 10 lakh to a bank and some arhtiyas for over three years and was unable to repay it. Under stress he committed suicide.

DSP Jasvir Singh said Ram Singh was also suffering from some ailment. — OC
