Two lecturers of DIET at Barkandi in Muktsar sacked over sexual abuse

The Education Department today dismissed two lecturers of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at Barkandi village here for allegedly sexually abusing two ETT students.

“The services of lecturers Parminder Singh and Lakhwant Singh stand dismissed,” said Malkit Singh, District Education Officer (DEO), Muktsar. The two were currently posted in Muktsar and Hoshiarpur districts, respectively.

He said the lecturers had allegedly sexually abused two ETT students by promising favourable internal assessment during the 2015-17 session. A retired Additional District and Sessions Judge had conducted the probe and found the lecturers guilty. Sources said action against another lecturer was under way. — TNS
