Patiala, February 11

Almost a week after questioning four aides of SAD leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the special investigation team (SIT) has summoned Majithia yet again on February 15 in drugs case.

Patiala (Range) DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar-led new SIT, which was formed on January 1, had earlier grilled Majithia about financial transactions and his links with those named in the drugs trade on January 16.

Sources said the entire proceedings were being recorded by the SIT. While Bhullar heads the three-member SIT, other members include Patiala SSP Varun Sharma and Patiala SP (Investigations) Yogesh Sharma. The need to reconstitute SIT arose following the retirement of Patiala ADGP MS Chhina on December 30.

In the last two years, the SIT has failed to file a chargesheet and recover any drugs or name any new accused in the case. Majithia was booked in December 2021 on the basis of a 2018 report submitted by anti-drugs STF head Harpreet Singh Sidhu.
