Ropar, December 1

After a war of words between Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh over the quality of school education in their respective states, the former on Wednesday visited two government schools in Chamkaur Sahib area.

Sisodia said the Punjab government was boasting of best quality education and facilities in government schools and he was here to expose their false claims and chose the schools situated in assembly constituency of the chief minister.

Sisodia had released a list of his 250 government schools challenging chief minister as well as Pargat Singh to name schools in the state transformed by current regime to compare the reforms and developments in the schools run by both the governments.

Pargat responding to it had tweeted that “we would compare on the parameters of the National Performance Grading Index 2021”.

Sisodia, however, was successful to some extent in his mission as one of the rooms in Chaklan village school was full of cobwebs and filthy washrooms, broken furniture and no proper arrangement for drinking water welcomed the VIP visitor at the Makrona Kalan village school.

At Makrona Kalan, the lone teacher present on the spot said he had to teach 28 pupils admitted in Nursery to Class V and was being paid a mere Rs 6,000 salary.

The midday meal worker also claimed that she was not paid for the last couple of months.

Sisodia claimed that the condition of Delhi schools was no different before AAP took over the reins from UPA.

Now the government schools in national capital were performing better than private schools, he said.

And in case people in Punjab give mandate in favour of his party during forthcoming assembly elections the government schools will compete with any of the best private schools in the state, he added.
