Lakha Sidhana, YouTuber Bhana Sidhu’s family booked for blocking highway in Barnala district

The Dhanaula police have registered a case against 17 identified persons and around 200 unidentified persons for blocking traffic on the national highway at Badbar toll plaza near Dhanaula in Barnala district, damage to a police vehicle and alleged attack on a policeman with an intention to kill him on February 3.

The names of Lakha Sidhana, YouTuber Bhana Sidhu’s father Bikkar Singh, brother Amna Singh and two sisters Kiranpal Kaur and Sukhpal Kaur are among the 17 persons against whom the case has been registered with their names. The names of some other persons against whom the case has also been registered are Sarbjit Singh Sarpanch, Panch Ranjit Singh, Kulwinder Singh Khalistani, Jasveer Engineer, Jassi Nihang, Gurwinder Singh, Baljinder Singh and Sukhpal Singh.

The case has been registered by the Dhanaula police under various sections of the IPC, National Highway Act and Punjab Prevention of Damage to Public and Private Property Act.

Several organisations had given a call to organise a big gathering on February 3 in front of the residence of CM Bhagwant Mann in Sangrur to seek unconditional release of Sidhu. In view of the call, the police had laid nakas in various parts of Sangrur and Barnala districts to stop the protesters from reaching the CM’s residence.

In the FIR it has been stated by the police that the protesters, including the persons named in the FIR, had blocked NH-7 on February 3 at Badbar toll plaza with tractor-trailers and vehicles while the police tried to convince them to end the blockade.

Dhanaula SHO Nirmaljit Singh said that no arrest had been made in this case.
