SGPC objects to Gurbani tattoo on model's back

Amritsar: The SGPC has objected to a US model displaying a hymn from the Gurbani tattooed on her back. Her video is doing the rounds on social media. Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC president, said the model's action had hurt the religious sentiments of the community. He demanded a stern action in this regard. TNS

Centenary celebrations of Guru Ka Bagh Morcha begin

Amritsar: Around 100 students of missionary colleges performed kirtan with traditional string instruments, marking the first of the three-day centenary celebrations to commemorate the Guru Ka Bagh Morcha. Panel protests ‘dummy’ auction of panchayat land

Sangrur: Members of the Zameen Prapti Sangharsh Committee on Saturday burnt effigies of the state government in the district in protest against the “dummy” auction of panchayat land at Hedike village. The committee announced it would take forcible possession of Hedike land on August 25, if the authorities failed to cancel the dummy auction. tns

200-kg poppy husk seized, 2 arrested

Abohar: The police seized 200-kg poppy husk from a car that crashed into a naka, hit the police vehicle before falling into a water reservoir in Chak 57-GB village of Sriganganagar district on Saturday. Sukha Singh and Major Singh of Ferozepur have been arrested under the NDPS Act.
