As the news broke about the wedding of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday, residents of his native village — Satauj — offered him their best wishes.

“We are happy after getting information through the social media that Bhagwant is getting married. Villagers are elated and have been offering their best wishes to the CM. We have seen Bhagwant Mann growing, he still greets us with folded hands whenever he visits the village,” said Gurjant Singh, an elderly resident of Satauj village.

A majority of residents said neither any relative of the CM had shared any information about the wedding with them nor they had got any invitation. Villagers said they learnt about the wedding through the social media only.

“We have not received any invitation for the wedding. All came to know through the social media only,” said Kulwinder Singh, a friend of the CM.

However, some residents did not like sharing of would-be bride’s photos on the social media before the wedding.

“People should not share her photo on the social media before the wedding as it’s against our culture,” said Bhola Singh, another villager.

Sarpanch Charna Singh and panchayat members said they all were happy after learning about the wedding of the CM.

“I heard on a TV channel that the CM is getting married. He is the son of our village and has taken many steps for the development of Satauj village and the state. All have offered their best wishes to the CM and his family,” said the Sarpanch.
