Muktsar, January 14

Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Cabinet ministers Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Dr Baljit Kaur today paid obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib here on the occasion of Maghi.

Sandhwan inaugurated the ‘Sarbansdani light and sound programme’ at Guru Gobind Singh park here in the evening. “It is a laudable step taken by the district administration to reconnect people with the history,” he said.

The ministers earlier visited ‘Hunar haat’ at Guru Gobind Singh Park here and also appreciated the district administration for giving a platform to artisans and self-help groups to exhibit their handicrafts and traditional products.

AAP, the Congress and the BJP did not organise political conference. The local leadership of both Congress and BJP paid obeisance at the historic gurdwara.

SAD (Amritsar) organised its political conference at Dera Bhai Mastan Singh here. SAD (Amritsar) president-cum-MP, Sangrur, Simranjit Singh Mann said, “The Narendra Modi government has strangled the democracy by expelling the opposition members from Parliament. Further, the trade is being done with China and other countries through Gujarat and Mumbai to Karachi, but the border with Pakistan in Punjab is not being opened to weaken the Sikhs.”
