New Delhi, February 8

Vikramjit Singh Sahney, AAP Rajya Sabha MP, has demanded that Bharat Ratna be conferred on Master Tara Singh for his role in integrating Punjab with India.

Raising the demand in Parliament, Sahney said it was Master Tara Singh, who rejected the proposal of Muslim League leader MA Jinnah and decided that Punjab and Sikhs ought to be with India. If that decision had not been taken, the border of Pakistan would have been Gurgaon and not Atari, Sahney added.

Highlighting the suffering of the Sikhs during the Partition, Sahney said over 5 lakh Sikhs lost their lives and lakhs of Punjabis left their fertile land in Pakistan. Lauding the patriotism of the Sikhs, Sahney said the Sikhs continue to sacrifice their lives for motherland.
