Relief for farmer’s kin

Cabinet Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Friday handed over a cheque for Rs 3 lakh to the family members of farmer Baldev Raj (60), who died during the protest at Mahmu Joiyan toll plaza in Fazilka on November 13.

Farmers had blocked the Fazilka-Ferozepur highway for two days demanding compensation for the farmer's family. The Jalalabad SDM had earlier given a cheque for Rs 2 lakh to the family and assured a job. OC
