The last night rain flooded the local Government Ayurvedic Dispensary that is the only one in the city and caters to lakhs of people.

Government employees posted there remained busy on Friday to drain out water with utensils. The dispensary needs urgent repair, but neither the authorities have sanctioned required funds for the last many years nor they have been providing any required infrastructure.

“When we came here it was a flood-like situation in the dispensary. Rainwater entered here last night. We have been trying to remove the water with utensils,” said an employee of the dispensary.

An local said the Ayurved Department could contribute in a big way to treat Covid patients if the government provided required infrastructure. “To control the further spread of the virus, the state government must help the Ayurvedic Department in treating patients,” he said.

District ayurvedic officer Dr Ravi Doomra said they had been trying for the repair of the dispensary. “We have been taking up the matter with the higher authorities. Hopefully, we will get positive reply soon,” he said. — TNS
