Chandigarh, July 28

The state government has signed an agreement for becoming a member of the prestigious Global Network called ‘Under2 Coalition’ to check global warming.

With this, Punjab has become a member of the largest network of 221 states of 43 countries committed to reducing carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement, adopted during the UNFCCC-COP 21 in 2015.

Environment Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said, “The signing of the MoU becomes all the more relevant when the impact of climate change is unprecedented.”
