Chandigarh, February 23

Facing flak for his remark on the Kartarpur corridor, Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta on Sunday took to Twitter to express regret over the matter and to state his faith in Sikh religion.

“In case any remark made by me has inadvertently caused any hurt to the people of my state, I express my sincere regret, as it was never my intention at all. I only want to ensure a safe and peaceful environment in Punjab necessary for every citizen to flourish and prosper,” he said.

The DGP said he had worked tirelessly for peace and security in Punjab in his 32 years of service and stressed he had started his tenure as Punjab DGP in February 2019 with ‘ardas’ at the Golden Temple which showed his immense faith in Sikhism. —TNS
