Punjab Cabinet okays 25K EWS housing units

Approval to upgrade 229 schools

Chandigarh, December 14

The Punjab Cabinet, led by CM Charanjit Singh Channi, today approved inviting applications for the allotment of 25,000 houses to economically weaker sections of society. The dwelling units will be constructed by various urban development authorities across the state.

Each such house will have a carpet area of around 30 sq m. At present, 397.048 acre land is available for EWS housing in Mohali, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Patiala, Jalandhar and Amritsar, an official of the Chief Minister’s Office said.
