The Budget session of the Punjab Assembly resumed on Wednesday with pandemonium prevailing in the House as the Treasury benches and the Opposition Congress MLAs engaged in heated arguments.

The House was adjourned by Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan for 15 minutes.

The heated arguments ensued after the Opposition MLAs protested in the well of the House over Punjab Congress president and Gidderbaha legislator Amarinder Singh Raja Warring being denied time to speak during the Budget discussions.

The Speaker had first named all Congress MLA, except Sandeep Jakhar, and asked them to leave the House.

As they refused to budge, the Speaker asked the ward and watch staff to have them removed from the House. “The House will be run in accordance with rules and regulations,” said Sandhwan.

As the watch and ward staff asked the Congress MLAs to leave, Raja Warring squatted on the floor of the well of the House.

Later, three Congress MLAs including Raja Warring were dragged out of the House.

The Speaker said that he allotted an additional five minutes to the Congress over their allotted time, but rules have to be followed.
