Chandigarh, December 3

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice to IPS officer BK Uppal and two others on a petition filed by ex-DGP Sumedh Singh Saini. He was seeking the initiation of contempt of court proceedings against Vigilance Bureau officers for illegally detaining him in violation of High Court orders.

In his petition placed before Justice Raj Mohan Singh, Saini through counsel SPS Sidhu alleged his illegal detention was carried out at the “insistence of Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, political adviser to CM through BK Uppal”. — TNS
