Punjab allows liquor vends to remain open on weekdays

The shops can remain open until 5 pm on all days except for weekends

Punjab Government amended its COVID restrictions on Tuesday to allow some non-essential establishments such as shops that sell liquor, groceries and hardware to stay open on weekdays.

The shops can remain open until 5 pm on all days except for weekends. All other shops however must remain closed under Punjab Government’s orders until May 15.

All non-essential shops, including shops selling liquor, groceries, and hardware, must remain closed from 6 pm Friday to 5 am Monday.  

Punjab government ordered new restrictions on Sunday as COVID cases continued to overwhelm the state's healthcare facilities. The restrictions have prompted protests from traders in various parts of the state.
