Jalandhar, November 30

In a major announcement, Agriculture Minister Randeep Singh Nabha today said the Punjab Government would provide minimum support price (MSP) on 113 crops if the Centre failed to ensure the same.

He underlined that the Centre should announce a guarantee on the MSP so that interests of the farming community could be protected. He said he had already welcomed the Centre for repealing the three farm laws but it should announce the MSP on crops without delay.

Nabha hoped the Centre would accede to the farmers’ demands of providing a guarantee on MSP, adding the protesting farmers would not return until their demands were met. He, however, said if the Centre did not accept the demand, the state would formulate a plan to offer MSP on 113 crops for its ‘annadatas’.

The minister added the Charanjit Singh Channi-led state government had formulated a ‘vision document’ aimed at transforming the farming sector, which would be executed across the state by making six zones. — TNS
