Protest targeting Punjab BJP leaders continues

On the third day of agitation by the BKU (Ugrahan) against ‘atrocities’ on farmers at Khanauri and Shambhu borders by the Haryana Government, day and night protest dharna by farmers remained continued outside residence of senior BJP leader Kewal Singh Dhillon in Barnala. A large number of woman activists also participated in the dharna. The protesters also did not allow collection of toll fee from commuters at plazas of Mehal Kalan and Badbar villages in Barnala district.

Barnala district general secretary of the BKU (Ugrahan) Jarnail Singh Badra said farmers would continue their agitation till the Central Government did not accept their demands, including guaranteed MSP on all crops, waiving loans of farmers, punishment to Lakhimpur Kheri accused and implementation of the Swaminathan Report.

Among other leaders who were present included Joginder Singh Dayalpura (Mansa), Sandeep Kaur Barnala, Hardeep Singh Tallewal, Bhagat Singh Chhanna and Kamaljit Kaur Barnala.

Abohar: The protest by Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) near Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar’s ancestral house in Panjkosi village continued for the third consecutive day.

BKU Lambi block leader Jagsir Singh Gagad said the BKU had always fought with determination and without any pressure and always won. Whenever there had been atrocities against people fighting for public welfare, the BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) had always stood firm in support.

Bharpur Singh said moneylenders had ruined the farming fraternity which triggered suicides but private financiers were not forced to get themselves registered and stop harming farmers.

District vice-president Gurmeet Singh Mannewala said all farmers, labourers and other sections of society should come together and fight so that the battle can be won with unity.
