Faridkot, February 9

A week after a team of the Faridkot police had rushed to Ayodhya after Pardeep Kaler, a prime accused and absconder in the sacrilege incidents of 2015, was purportedly seen serving ‘langar’ to the devotees on the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple, the police have nabbed this fugitive from Haryana this evening.

The police had swung into action last week after pictures were shared by a large number of people on various social media platforms in this area, showing Pardeep serving the community kitchen along with some BJP leaders in Ayodhya.

Declining to share the details of Kaler’s arrest, SSP Harjeet Singh said the police were in process of procuring transit remand of the absconder.

Kaler was a member of the national executive committee of the Dera Sacha Sauda headed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He had been absconding for the past eight years along with two other dera members Sandeep Bareta and Harsh Dhuri.
