Jalandhar, January 25

Endorsing the 13-point ‘Punjab Model’ envisioned by PCC chief Navjot Sidhu, the Congress manifesto committee chairman Partap Bajwa today said these would be part of their party document for Punjab to be released in a week’s time.

Addressing mediapersons in the presence of Sidhu and AICC spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill, Bajwa said: “We will add in a few more points and shape it into a proper manifesto. The ‘Punjab Model’ that the PCC chief has given out is not that of Sidhu as an individual but that of the Congress,” he said. Sidhu detailed points from his model on issues related to sports and NRIs. He said four new academies would be set up, including two in Malwa and one each in Doaba and Majha. For international players, the government would dole out scholarships, he said. Sidhu added the new government would probe all illegal mining cases and their possible links with Capt Amarinder Singh. —
